At Splunk .conf25, I had the opportunity to catch up with Garrett Gladden and Neal Lauther from Kollective Technology about what they have been up to in the collaboration space, observability, and Splunk. To quote Garrett, ‘think of it like thermal imaging for the entire collaboration application’. Hey everyone, we’re out here at docom 25 and I’m talking to Garrett and Neil from Collective. Now, we talked at Cisco Live not too long ago and you gave me a lot of amazing information on Collective and what you do, but you got some new stuff coming out or out. Can you give me some more information about that? >> Yeah, thanks. It’s great to talk again first of all and to just be at this is our first comp u which is great. But, uh yeah, in terms of new news, we’re officially on Splunk base. So, we launched last week. Um, and man, it’s been a great journey getting uh first the app built and then all of a sudden we’re on Splunk base and so it’s just been a really busy week just chatting with uh a lot of Splunkers uh here at the conference and yeah, it’s been a pleasure. >> No, I was just going to add that our customers have been asking for this because they use Splunk every day and here we are kind of all shucks like sure we’ll help. And to see the excitement in our not only our customers but our prospects that we’re meeting here that has potential of taking what we do every day and making available into Splunk. It’s a really good feeling. >> Yeah. Speaking about what you do, I mean you’re in WebEx, you’re in Teams, you’re in so many different collaboration tools. Give us a little bit uh more information about what you do for those that didn’t see the previous video. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, if you think about just how much telemetry the collaboration apps produce. So it’s it’s the heaviest app on our networks. Like it’s got video streams, audio streams, screen sharing screens, uh streams of data. So it’s producing a ton of telemetry, but until now there’s not been a great way to translate that into observability data, which at the end of the day, the you know, it doesn’t want to get blamed for a poor network connection from a cell phone. And so what we’re doing is we’re streaming all that in whether it’s Teams, WebEx, if you, you know, Calura, uh, Vimeo, you can go on and on and on with all the the video and collaboration apps out there. And so what we’re doing is we’re streaming that in as observability data now and making available Splunk. So really think of it as like thermal imaging for the entire collaboration uh application. Uh so you can know how are things going for users, how are things going for the application, how are things going for the network all in a great place that you use today which is Flunk. >> Absolutely.
