Splunk Edge Hub opens up new and exciting use cases to correlate physical data with digital data. I recently had the opportunity to chat with Lerry Wilson about IoT, industrial data, Edge Hub, data access, use cases, and more. There is a lot of opportunity in the partner-led space.

hey everybody we’re out here at Cisco partner Summit and I’ve been talking to Larry about iot now Larry you’ve been doing iot at Splunk for quite a while can you give me some of your journey and some of the highlights you’ve seen along the way yeah Splunk has come a long way with regards to the iot space and I’m really excited about what we’re doing now and of course now with Cisco they’ve been doing a tremendous amount with all their networking products in that space so we’re really looking at this is a really um time to really disrupt the market and it’s funny because Jason when I came into first time I saw a Splunk was 2011 and I thought this is going to be an amazing technology and of course we disrupted the market we built great Solutions around observability and security we own those markets but the platform itself is just the truly secret sauce right and in the challenge we’ve had customers and partners who’ve been able to actually create iot and OT Solutions but it’s really hard and the hard part is getting the data in so with now with this new Edge device that we’ve built swun EDG Hub it’s a Hardware device first time that spun’s done this you can actually put it into these Industrial Systems and it produce all the same types of use cases inside Splunk we’re just accelerating it’s kind of the easy button to get OT protocol data or iot data into Splunk and then start doing that same type of magic yeah so we’re getting all this physical data as well as all the Digital Data as well there’s so many different use cases because the guy’s really built us with some really smarts behind it so you have environmental sensors so let’s say for example you just want to know in your data center if something’s getting overheating or it’s getting too cold it’s going to shut something down right it’s all about downtime in those types of environments now we also have the operating system The Edge OS and that as actually allows us to put on the protocols so you can actually talk to mqq type devices or modbus devices or opcua types devices SNMP opens up a whole new world of of physical devices and machine devices that now you can start taking a look at and they put an arm processor on the device so it’s truly an industrial controller and so now you have the ability to run containers and Run apps right in the edge so take the Splunk ml um uh mltk kit and you can build your models there and then you can push them right down to the edge and actually be running things locally that’s really incredible Larry where can I go get some more information about these capabilities well this is a channel only and it’s all about our partners so if you go to EDG Hub central.com you’ll see the partners the solutions the different industries that we’re involved in super exciting time awesome thanks Larry thank you
